Deadline to file petitions for the November 5, 2019 Council election is April 23 at 4pm

There are four seats available on the Garden City City Council.  Those elected will receive four year terms that expire November 13, 2023.  If there are more than eight candidates, a primary will be held on August 6.  Packets are available in the Clerk's office at City Hall, 6000 Middlebelt, Monday-Friday, 9 AM- 5 PM.  Deadline to file petitions for the November 5, 2019 Council election is April 23 at 4pm.

The following list of requirements must be met in order to file your nominating petitions:

Candidate must complete and submit a notarized Affidavit of Identity.
Candidate must submit petitions having at least 75, but not more than 125, valid signatures. (Read, carefully, the instructions on the back of the petitions, before circulating.)
Candidate must present proof of citizenship when filing (birth certificate or passport). Incumbents are NOT required to show proof of citizenship.
Candidate nominating petitions must be filed by 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2019.

All candidate forms and information, including candidate committee information, can be obtained online at the State of Michigan website by selecting Elections in Michigan, and Information for Candidates.

It is the policy of the City that candidates may NOT solicit petition signatures on City property.
