Monica Fulton has worked for the City of Garden City for the past 21 years. She is currently the Supervisor of the Family Resource Center at Maplewood. She was the Director of the Department of Community Resources for the City of Garden City between 2014 - 2019; home to the Senior Center, Family Resource Center, Community Supports Division, and the management of the Maplewood Community Center. She holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and is currently working on a PhD in Public Administration. She has been instrumental in mobilizing the community around prevention, coordinating a Community Assessment process, developing prevention policies and implementing evidenced-based programs in the community. Monica wrote and received her first grant for the City in 1999. Since then, she has been successful in securing funding for the City from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Agency and the Center of Medicare & Medicaid Services; the State of Michigan’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and Wayne County’s Department of Children and Family Services.  Monica also for awarded a grant from the National League of Cities focused on enrolling kids and their families in health insurance, called the Healthy Kids-Happy Families project.  She is always looking for new ways to enhance and support the City of Garden City and it's residents.
