KEEP YOUR PIPES FROM FREEZING DURING COLDEST DAYS OF WINTER

When forecasts are for frigid, below normal temperatures and if your pipes are prone to freezing, consider letting cold water lines trickle to keep the water from freezing.

KEEP SIDEWALKS IN FRONT OF YOUR HOME CLEAR OF SNOW

As a homeowner, you are responsible to clear the snow from the sidewalk in front of your home and around the corner if necessary. You must clean the sidewalk within 24 hours of the snowfall. Ordinance #94.48. This is a misdemeanor.

DON'T BLOCK THE SIDEWALK WITH YOUR VEHICLE

Please don't block any sidewalk with your vehicle at anytime, but especially during the Winter.  Blocking the sidewalk could make it difficult for pedestrians to pass, especially those with with walkers or wheelchairs.  MCL: 257.674.  


A Snow Emergency is automatically in effect whenever 3 or more inches of snow has fallen. For the safety of your vehicles and for snow removal purposes- vehicles are prohibited from parking on City streets during a snow emergency and may not be put back in the street until the snow emergency has been cancelled. Notification of a snow emergency and it's cancellation can be found on this web site, GCTV (Comcast 12, WOW 18 and U-verse 99), on local Detroit television and radio outlets, or you can be notified automatically through Nixle on your cell phone or to your e-mail account.
