Please use caution, common sense and courtesy if you are using fireworks at all during around Independence Day. Per Michigan law, fireworks may only be used June 29 to July 4 until 11:45 p.m. on each of those days. Per Garden City ordinance, fireworks may not be used within 200 feet of a residential structure and not within 20 feet of an open flame, a burner, gasoline, ignited gas or electric grill. Fireworks may not be used on public property. Pay special attention this summer, because of dry conditions and the risk of fire from fireworks and consider neighbors with dogs, small children or the elderly when using legal fireworks.
