On Monday, October 29, the City of Garden City will dedicate it’s FREE fitness court at Garden City Park (Cherry Hill and Merriman) at 4:30 pm. Working with the National Fitness Campaign (NFC), a San Francisco-based social enterprise, to install and activate Fitness Courts® throughout the country, the City raised $50,000 toward the cost of placing the court in Garden City. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation matched our amount to make the NFC Fitness Court a reality in our town.
The Garden City Fitness Court- presented by the Garden City Family Resource Center, is a free outdoor bodyweight circuit training fitness center designed for adults of all ages and abilities- 1 of only 100 selected installations across the country this year! The National Fitness Campaign (NFC) is the leading partner in community fitness and awarded the City of Garden City, Mi funding to join the 2018 Campaign.
National Fitness Campaign’s outdoor bodyweight circuit-training system features a series of full-body exercises that can be completed in just seven minutes. 7 Movements in 7 Minutes is a simple yet powerful workout created for a range of athletic abilities, and is optimally performed on the Fitness Court®. Developed by experts in the field, each exercise takes 45 seconds, with a 15-second interlude between sets, and is shown to burn more calories per minute than most other forms of exercise.
Garden City’s mission is to enhance public spaces, encourage activity and promote community wellness, so we’re brought a totally free-to-the public-outdoor gym facility to the city!
Our ribbon cutting ceremony is a way to thank the many sponsors who made this vision a reality and to start moving Garden City like never before.
