Draft Plan Review

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources requires municipalities to issue a DRAFT copy of their Master Plan for public comment before it is adopted by the City. The review period for the Garden City Parks & Recreation Master Plan will be from December 10, 2018 - January 9, 2019.

Residents and interested stakeholders may submit comments on the draft plan to the Parks & Recreation Department by emailing the Director at dplamondon@gardencitymi.org, or submit comments in writing to: 200 Log Cabin Road, Garden City, Michigan  48135.

Information on "Next Steps"

The draft plan has been presented to the City appointed commission for the Parks & Recreation Department. On January 7, 2019, the City Council will hear a presentation on the draft plan. Should the City receive any pertinent comments, there remains the opportunity to revise the plan while it's in draft form and still meet the DNR's submittal deadline of February 1, 2019. The Parks & Recreation Commission will be conducting a public hearing on January 10, 2019; the City Council will be conducting a public hearing on January 28, 2019, at which time they may adopt the plan.
