COMPOST TO RESUME ON TUESDAY, APRIL 14
Through negotiation between the City of Garden City and GFL, yard waste pick-up will resume. Yard waste will be picked up when possible by GFL, so it may be collected on a different day then your regular trash day. We recommend you put your compost out on the grass area between the sidewalk and the street to avoid conflicts with street sweepers and parked cars.
You are permitted to put your yard waste out before your regular trash day (during this crisis period) and you should leave your yard waste out until it is collected even if it is after your normal trash pick-up day.
This plan is a work in progress . We appreciate your patience during this unprecedented time and will provide updates to residents as more information becomes available.
Compost will be picked up beginning with the week of April 6 through the December 11. Please plan your clean-ups and trimming accordingly, as compost cannot be mixed with your trash at any time. The special Christmas Tree pick up is December 26-January 15. During the composting period, residents must use a regular refuse container 32 gallon size with a "Yard Waste" recycling sticker or Kraft-type brown paper bag specifically designed for yard waste for curbside yard waste collection. Marked cans and compost bags should be placed at the curb for pickup on the same day as regular refuse collection. Yard waste placed in improper containers or mixed with regular refuse will not be collected. When set out for collection, yard waste shall be separated from regular refuse approximately 5 feet. Call DPS at 734-793-1800 for yard waste stickers.
