[ARCHIVED] Music in the Park Returns

The Garden City Business Alliance, an active network of business owners, community leaders and Garden City residents established in 2015, is proud to announce the return of “Music in the Park Presented by Gordon Chevrolet.”

After a forced cancellation of the popular event in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Executive Board of the GCBA made the important decision to bring back the annual event, but with a twist.

“We understand our community and we know what Music in the Park means to Garden City,” said Garden City Business Alliance President and Music in the Park organizer, Alan Bennett.  Since the event began in 2016, Music in the Park has been held once every Summer and always featured a local band.  While supporting local music talent remains a constant, Music in the Park will expand.  “The residents of Garden City love to listen to live music in the middle of their community crown-jewel, Garden City Park.  This year, our plan includes hosting Music in the Park three times instead of one.”

With live music in Garden City Park every third-Thursday in June, July and August, Music in the Park Presented by Gordon Chevrolet, is poised for a triumphant return while supporting a great cause.  “One of the great traditions embraced by our Music in the Park audience is their continued support of Our H.O.M.E. Food Pantry,” Bennett said.

Operating out of the Maplewood Community Center, the Our H.O.M.E. Food Pantry collects and distributes non-perishable food items to Garden City residents and students who are in need.  “For those audience members who are able to contribute, all we request is that they bring a non-perishable food donation to Music in the Park, and enjoy the free concert.”

Bennett notes that without the generous support from local businesses and the GCBA membership, Music in the Park would not be possible. “Gordon Chevrolet General Manager, Michael Porter, made the commitment to keep Music in the Park free, and the Garden City Business Alliance appreciates their presenting sponsorship.”

In addition to the three hours of music in an outdoor setting, Bennett adds that a diverse blend of food vendor items will be available for purchase. “Bring your folding chair, a cooler full of your favorite drinks, and an appreciation for live music, and you won’t be disappointed.”  What better way to celebrate the slow emergence from a pandemic.
